Join us from 11:00am – 1:30pm on April 10!
Saskatchewan’s rental housing industry has it’s fair share of issues – and death, drugs, and dramatic tenants are some of the most challenging. In this workshop, you will learn how to handle tenant deaths, drug issues, and conflicts with tenants. Constables from the Saskatoon Police Service, experienced housing providers, and the Coroner’s service will be on hand to present information that will help you navigate those “bad days” in your properties.
Members can attend for only $45 and receive lunch, refreshments, and materials.
DEATH: In the first half hour, you will hear first-hand from the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Office on the process for landlords when a tenant dies. Then, you’ll hear from SKLA CEO Cameron Choquette about what you need to do if a tenant dies in a joint tenancy, is incarcerated, and what to do with deposits and belongings.
DRUGS: The rest of the hour will be a discussion with the Saskatoon Police Service on what to look for, how to respond to overdoses, and how to work effectively with police.
DRAMA: After the catered lunch, Noe Hernandez and Karen Farmer of Crime Free Multi Housing will take us through the impact of anger on the body, conflict escalation and resolution, tips on how to deal constructively with heightened emotions, and walk us through role plays of property managers dealing with a problematic tenant. As always, questions are welcome throughout.
NEW – attendees will receive a naloxone kit and other materials – all to help you and your tenants stay safe!
