After five months of significant advocacy work in partnership with the Saskatoon and Regina Homebuilder Associations and the Saskatchewan REALTORS Association, the Saskatchewan Landlord Association is pleased to announce that the suspension of non-urgent evictions and ORT applications will be lifted on August 4, 2020. This is a significant win for the Association and our members.
A huge thank you goes out to our members who participated in our advocacy activities through answering surveys, participating in media interviews, and letting us know their concerns.
Cameron Choquette, SKLA Executive Officer
Thank you to the Government of Saskatchewan for helping landlords manage their business by lifting the suspension on evictions. This means that now landlords and tenants can get back to the table and find solutions to their disputes.
Hillary Sayed, Board Chair
The Association recommended the following to members:
We encourage our members to go the extra mile with their tenants this month. With this in mind, we are recommending that immediate evictions be pursued only for tenants who have rent arrears and have no payment plan or have refused to communicate with their landlord.
